A Gay Person's Guide to Straight Leicester
So, why do we need to provide a guide to straight Leicester for gay people? Well, believe it or not, there are quite a few of us that don't actually want to spend our days and nights living in the gay ghetto.
If your gay, then where is cool and safe to go to without it actually being gay?
This is our view of where we find gay people, in Leicester other than the places listed in the Gay Guide.
Indie kids do the clubs and nights we list in the student's guide. You can also find gay and bisexual people in rock venues like The Shed on Yeoman Street - checking out the bands.
Those who dig drama and shows might be found at the Little Theatre and the Phoenix and doubtless THE CURVE when that opens.
If your into mixed venues, try Bossa Cafe bar in Granby Street. Even Quebec is more mixed than wall to wall gay. Both Quebec and Streetlife clubs attract straight people, so you can take your straight mates there and they will all have a great night out.
Straight people also enjoy a visit to Leicester's oldest gay bar - The Dover Castle. Straight guys think its really cool to go to a gay bar. And straight girls really love it if they can have a night out with their gay mates.
If you just want a quiet drink in a fairly stylish venue, try Fat Cats in Belvoir Street or the downstairs bar in O4. If your looking for a traditional meal in an old fashioned public house, try the Old Horse, London Road, opposite Victoria Park, or further down London Road at the Marquis of Wellington.
