Join members of Prism (the LGBT Forum for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland) at the Centre between 1pm and 3pm to commemorate the ongoing fight for equal rights around the world. A Life In A Day Practical Ways to Make Your Services LGBT Friendly' Limited spaces left for ground-breaking conference On Thursday 5th June professionals from a wide variety of fields from across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland will be coming together for the ground-breaking A Life In A Day' conference. This one-day event will give delegates simple ways of making the services they deliver welcoming to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. As well as featuring a welcoming address from local MP Sir Peter Soulsby, the conference will contain keynote speeches from Christine Burns MBE, Linda Bellos OBE and Gordon Lishman CBE and practical workshops from local workers who have developed good practice in delivering discrimination-free services. This is the first time that such an event has been held in the Leicester area. Experts By Experience Do you use older people's social care services? Or are you the family member or friend of someone who does? Help The Aged are looking for new recruits to their Experts by Experience scheme and they're particularly keen to recruit LGB people. Experts by Experience take part in inspections of care homes for older people and people with dementia, talking to the residents and writing a brief report of their findings. As well as being paid for your time, this is a great opportunity to help to ensure that care service providers are not discriminating against LGB residents. Details of Groups Choice Café Wigston is a youth session for young people aged between 14 & 19 who are LGBT or are questioning their sexuality. Takes place at Wigston Young People's Centre, 9 Holmden Avenue, Wigston LE18 2EG.
First Out Youth Group is a social and support group for young people aged between 13 and 19 who identify as LGBT or are questioning their sexuality. The Forthright Group is a social group for older LGBT people. Leicester Gay Group is Leicester's oldest social group for gay and bi men. Visit their website at http://members.lycos.co.uk/lgg/ .
Leicester Parents Support Group provides advice, support and information to parents, grandparents and family members of LGB children. They sometimes meet at the Centre on the third Wednesday of the month. call 0116 2547412 for more information.

Women's Wednesday Group is a social group for lesbians and bisexual women.
The Young Gay Men's Group is a social group for gay and bi men aged between 20 and 35.
Other services Leicester LGB Helpline is staffed by trained volunteers and operates every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 7.30 10.00pm. If you need advice, support, information or just a sympathetic ear, call 0116 2550667
Prism LGBT Forum. Leicester LGB Centre, with support from the Big Lottery Fund, has formed Prism, the LGBT Forum for Leicester Leicestershire and Rutland.Prism aims to reduce homophobia and improve services for LGB people in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. LGB DVD rental. Leicester LGB Centre has a variety of films with an LGB content available to rent at the cost of £3.50 for a week. Drop into the Centre to see what's available.
LGB-friendly Counselling. The Centre currently has a small counselling service provided by volunteer trainee counsellors and therapists.

Q15 Café is Leicester LGB Centre's Community space. Q15 is open on Tuesdays & Wednesdays 12 2pm and Saturdays 1 3pm, staffed by Centre staff and volunteers with hot and cold drinks and snacks in a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. Drop by to meet new friends, hang out in an LGBT-friendly space and browse our extensive selection of LGB books and publications.
