Leicester Gay and Lesbian Pride 2004

Out of this World - Space and Beyond

Celebrating its fourth anniversary, Leicester Pride sought to boldly go where no parade or festival has gone before, with its ‘Out of this World – Space and Beyond’ theme - guaranteed to bring earthly delights to the whole planet.

On 19 June 2004, the annual free event once again brought together Leicestershire’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans gender community as well as friends and families throughout the East Midlands for a thrilling, fun filled day.

The Leicester Pride parade began its galactic journey through the city centre with fantastical floats, colourful costumed dancers, marvelous marching bands, and a multitude of revelers. Despite some rain towards the end, the parade entertained and educated the shoppers and other passers-by in Leicester's busy city centre.

The Leicester Pride Festival took place on Saturday June 19th 2005, on Victoria Park.

Touching down in beautiful Victoria Park from 1 pm to 8 pm, the Leicester Pride festival offers a broad multitude of performances on the Main Stage, top DJs spinning in the Dance Tent and assortment of activities for everyone. For directions to Victoria Park, see our Visitors Guide

Main Stage - live music all day.

Once again the incomparable compere Pariss lends her hosting flair to the Main Stage with her brilliant “cavalcade of camp” (Leicester Mercury.)

An exceptional showcase of talents from throughout the local and regional area will be in attendance to entertain, delight and guarantee a good time. Notable guest speakers will also be on hand to highlight the importance for liberation and equality.

Opening: Seven Day Dream.
Live Bands: Lender, Mhunky, Ictus, Sambando, Praha 7, Casava Shapeshifter, Pussy Galore, Belinda O'Hooly - winner of Stars in their Eyes, Lucie Diamond, and Eurovision singing sensation Lisa Andreas

Guest speakers: Muslim Lesbian and Gay Project, Peter Tatchell, Matt Fraser

Dance Tent with international superstar dj Lisa Lashes

If you feel the desire to move with the universal flow then land yourself at the Dance Tent, sponsored by Leicester’s Gay Men’s Health Project TRADE where you could find yourself in a gravitational pull.

TRADE has pulled out all the stops this year announcing Get Lashed at Leicester Pride with international superstar DJ Lisa Lashes PLUS top DJs Neil Appeal, Davoid, A Star and Steve O’Donnell, Lee Massive and Soul Survivors. Plus the Passion's legendary JFK!

Dress: flashy, spacey, lashed up and ready for lift off. The Out of this World big top touches down at noon to provide the perfect summer sound track for a truly out of this world Leicester Pride. Sumptuous production, killer sound system and fully licensed bar.

And ... it's FREE!

Market Stalls

The Market Stalls area offers a wide range of merchandise from books to Leather. In the Commmunity Tent you will find many of the local groups and organisations who support our community.

Family Attractions

The Pride Festival also features a whole host of activities that appreciates the diversity within the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. Our ChillOut Tent offers a sophisticated alternative to relax with a glass of wine amongst an art exhibition.

Enjoy the fun zone for families that will entertain youngsters throughout the day with a variety of children's activities, including a Children's tent.

Take a stroll through the Community Information Marquee to learn more about local services or how to become more involved in local activities, shop till you drop at the varied market stalls and keep your energy up by grabbing a bite to eat at the food stands, catering for diverse tastes.

Community Bar and Wine Tent

Three contrasting bars offer a selection of refreshments on a hot summer afternoon. Leicester’s local LGBT venues continue to demonstrate their support of Leicester Pride through generous donations of alcohol stock and bar staff on the day. All proceeds from the Community Bar go directly back into the funding for the Pride Parade and Festival allowing the Leicester Pride celebrations to remain free events.
